Raphael Paciorek ist in Polen geboren und in Süddeutschland aufgewachsen. Die kreative Verbindung von Klang und Bild und deren Verschmelzung zu einer neuen Kommunikationsebene faszinieren ihn schon seit seiner Kindheit. Bevor er 2017 nach Zürich zog, betrieb er in Köln viele Jahre lang ein Tonstudio und war freischaffend in den Bereichen Filmmusik, Musikproduktion und Sounddesign tätig. Zahlreiche Auftragsarbeiten u.a. für den WDR, Arte, 3Sat, Degeto Film, Plaion, die Oper Köln, das Volkstheater Millowitsch und das Theater Tiefrot sind in dieser Zeit entstanden. Neben der Studioarbeit war er regelmässig als Live-Tonoperator für verschiedenste Veranstaltungen tätig. Den Zugang zur Klassik und zum Jazz erlangte er während seines Musikwissenschaftsstudiums; die tontechnische Ausbildung absolvierte er an der SAE Köln. Seit 2017 ist er am Opernhaus Zürich beschäftigt und seit 2023 in der Funktion des stv. Leiters der Abteilung Bild und Ton. Hier ist er regelmässig an verschiedenen Opern- und Ballettproduktionen klanggestalterisch beteiligt.

Karima El Demerdasch

The German-Egyptian mezzo-soprano Karima El Demerdasch studied in Cairo as well as at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London with John Evans. In 2024, she was a finalist in the Kathleen Ferrier Awards and took part in the Georg Solti Accademia in 2023. In university productions at the Guildhall School, she appeared as Prinz Orlofsky (“Die Fledermaus”) and Dido (“Dido und Aeneas”). In a 2023 production by Opera Kipling, she performed the title role in “La Cenerentola” at the Upstairs at the Gatehouse theatre in London. In 2025, she participated in the Young Singers Project of the Salzburg Festival and made her debut at the Barbican Hall in London. Starting with the 2025/26 season, she will be a member of the International Opera Studio at the Zurich Opera House.

Abstract

Katharina Rosenberger and Dzovinar Mikirditsian explore the themes of memory and remembrance in two new works. Together with the Geneva-based percussion collective Eklekto, they are creating a performance as an open «work-in-progress», one that takes a look behind the scenes between music theater, radio art and concert, and in which the audience becomes part of the action. Zurich composer Katharina Rosenberger was awarded the Swiss Music Prize 2023, among others, for her border-defying works. Dzovinar Mikirditsian, who comes from Beirut, composes both acoustic and electro-acoustic music. Inspired by literature, poetry and visual art, she explores different musical narratives.
