Privacy Policy

The Opernhaus Zürich processes personal data collected when visiting our web pages exclusively in accordance with the statutory provisions, in particular Article 13 of the Swiss Federal Constitution and the data protection provisions of the Federal Government (Data Protection Act, DSG). The protection of your personal data and your privacy is very important to us. Personal data is treated strictly confidential and is neither sold nor passed on to third parties. It is important to us that you always know what data we store and how we use it (transparency principle). In the following we would therefore like to briefly explain how the Opernhaus Zürich processes your data and what significance this has for you when using our services.

1. Personal Data
Personal data are individual details about natural persons that allow conclusions to be drawn about your personal, economic or actual circumstances. This includes, for example, address data. Information that is not directly associated with your identity is not included.

2. Which data is stored by the Opernhaus Zürich?
Personal data is only collected if you voluntarily provide it to us when purchasing tickets or registering for the newsletter. To purchase tickets online, you must create a customer account. If you book by telephone or in writing, your customer account will be created by the Opernhaus Zürich. When you set up your customer account, the Opernhaus Zürich collects your name, address, e-mail address and, if applicable, your telephone number.

3. How is data transferred?
The Opernhaus Zürich uses a secure online transmission procedure for online bookings, the so-called “Secure Socket Layer” (SSL) transmission, to process your personal data. All information transmitted using this method is encrypted at a high level (at least 128 bits, but up to 256 bits with standard browsers) before it is sent to us. This ensures as far as possible that no unauthorized persons can use your information.

4. How is data used?
The Opernhaus Zürich will use the data you provide to fulfill and process the contract for the purchase of tickets. In this context, the Opernhaus Zürich uses the data to inform you about the performance you have booked, any changes to the program, or how to reach the event location, among other things. If the Opernhaus Zürich has received your address or e-mail address in connection with the purchase of an opera ticket, the Opernhaus Zürich may also use this data for direct advertising for other performances of the Opernhaus Zürich, unless you have objected to its use. Such objection is possible at any time and can be addressed to: or Opernhaus Zürich AG, Falkenstrasse 1, CH-8008 Zürich. In the event of an objection, your customer data will be retained for ten years in accordance with the legal obligation to retain, together with booking receipts, but will no longer be used for direct advertising by the Opernhaus Zürich. When you subscribe to the newsletter, your e-mail address will only be used for the Opernhaus Zürich’s own advertising purposes, up to the point you unsubscribe from the newsletter. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time. The unsubscribe link can be found at the end of each newsletter.

5. Is my data passed on to third parties?
Your personal data will be kept strictly confidential and will not be sold or passed on to third parties, unless this is necessary for the processing of payment transactions or for forwarding. In this case, we have made agreements with the authorized companies; the agreements ensure compliance with data protection regulations and the immediate deletion of data no longer required. However, the following is valid exclusively for performances in the Bernhard Theater: The Opernhaus Zürich may transfer your personal data to the organizer of the event you have selected so that the organizer can inform you about further events in the future. We have reached agreements with the organizers, which require them to comply with data protection regulations. The organizer is obliged to refrain from providing information on further events, in so far as you inform the organizer accordingly.
