Abstract
The program of the 3rd Chamber Concert invites listeners into the fascinating sound world of the 17th century. At its heart are works by the early Italian masters of violin music. Compositions by Biagio Marini, Tarquinio Merula, Dario Castello, and others paint a vivid picture of an era in which virtuosity, emotional expression, and inventive spirit flourished anew. The concert reaches its climax with Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber’s moving “Balletti Lamentabili” — music poised between dance and lament, imbued with profound emotional depth.
