Since then, the French violinist has performed regularly with the most prestigious orchestras worldwide. Highlights of the 2025/26 season include appearances at Carnegie Hall, a European tour with the Budapest Festival Orchestra under Iván Fischer, and invitations to the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig and the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra. Renaud Capuçon has a deep affinity for chamber music: he has performed with artists such as Nicholas Angelich, Martha Argerich, and Daniel Barenboim at festivals including Salzburg, Edinburgh, and Tanglewood. He has also represented France at prestigious international events: he performed with Yo-Yo Ma under the Arc de Triomphe in Paris during the commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the Armistice of World War I, and appeared with his brother, cellist Gautier Capuçon, at the ceremonial reopening of Notre-Dame de Paris. Since 2021, he has served as Artistic Director of the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne, which he regularly leads either as conductor or from the violin. He is also Artistic Director of three festivals: the Festival de Pâques in Aix-en-Provence, which he founded in 2013, the Sommets Musicaux de Gstaad, and the Rencontres Musicales d’Évian. In 2011, Renaud Capuçon was named Chevalier de l’Ordre national du Mérite, and in 2016, Chevalier de la Légion d’honneur. In March 2020, he published his first book, «Mouvement perpétuel». Renaud Capuçon plays the 1737 Guarneri violin «Panette», which previously belonged to Isaac Stern.

Abstract

Since his «Parsifal» debut at the Bayreuth Festival in 2023 at the latest, Spanish conductor Pablo Heras-Casado has been considered one of the most important Wagner conductors of our time. In 2028, he will conduct the new «Ring» cycle in Bayreuth. Also featuring music by Richard Wagner - namely the festive prelude to «Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg» – Pablo Heras-Casado and the Orchestra of the Zurich Opera will open the 1st Philharmonic Concert of this season. The program continues with the Violin Concerto by Robert Schumann, performed by French violinist Gauthier Capuçon. The concert concludes with a major orchestral work: Richard Strauss’s tone poem «Also sprach Zarathustra». With its spectacular musical «sunrise» at the beginning - freely inspired by Nietzsche - it remains one of Strauss’s most popular works.
